Chydenius medal for Openness Merits

Anders Chydenius Foundation has proposed that the 2nd of December could be celebrated in Finland and Sweden as "Freedom of Information Day".

This idea stems from the US tradition of "Freedom of Information Day", which is officially celebrated on the birthday of James Madison in March, as well as from international tradition of a few other countries celebrating "Right to Know Day" in September.

In connection to Finnish-Swedish Freedom of Information Day, the Foundation will bestow Chydenius medal for activities with international signicance promoting the Nordic openness principle (offentlighetsprincipen).
